All Natural Everything

Hi there!

Thought I’d catch you all up on my natural hairscapades. Recently my locks seemed weighted, lifeless and kinda blah. My regular routine just hadn’t been doing the tricks they once used to. This forced me to try looking into doing things a little differently.

I’m always open to trying something new. Because of this I started researching all natural, organic products that are free from parabens, sulfates, silicones, gluten, synthetic dyes chemicals, etc.

After researching the potential harms associated with many of the chemicals used in health and beauty products my curiosity, about what is safe and healthy, has definitely piqued.

One thing I learned, it is possible that products laden with chemicals could cause allergic reactions. Over the years I have had some consistent reactions that I could never quite pinpoint the causes. Some studies show a link between parabens and breast cancer, though there is no proof that parabens cause cancer.

I am not making a blanket statement saying that the use of products with chemicals in them are unsafe or bad and bad for you. There are definitely strong points on both sides of these arguments. Personally, I am choosing to error on the side of caution and explore using more natural products when I can.

So what initially started out as my quest in all natural hair products has expanded beyond just hair. I’ve been making an effort to purge many of my staple health and beauty products replacing them with all natural alternatives for everything from hair care products, soaps, lotions, deodorants, bubble bath etc.

I have to confess, making this change when it comes to makeup and perfumes will be the hardest challenge for me. Whole Foods, Lush and The Vitamin Store have become some of my favorite stores recently. One thing for sure, it is expensive trying to be healthy icon smile All Natural Everything

I’ve missed my blog….

I’m finally getting a moment to catch up with my blog and give a fill in to everything that has kept me away from blogging. I’ve been m.i.a. for the last few months because I relocated from Ohio to S. Florida. I made a 1,300 mile move across country to start a new position with my company. A move that was a bit unexpected and happened really quickly.  Continue Reading

My natural hair care pampering sessison

Happy belated 4th of July!

So, I’m seeing where I’m developing this pattern (that I will soon be breaking) of being a little late with some things. Happy belated 4th of July :). I hope everyone enjoyed and had a safe holiday. Over the holiday weekend, and a few days after, I was in much need of some overdue rest and relaxation. So, I “checked out” for a while icon smile My natural hair care pampering sessison I enjoyed some much needed me time, pampering myself with a mani & pedi, facial and some special treatments to my hair.

Over the holiday I also enjoyed a cookout or two, good food, good people, a few glasses of wine, hanging out by the pool, getting a little sun, working out, reading an inspiring book, a tad bit of shopping and watched the fireworks. All things that I don’t get to enjoy enough of on a regular basis. Long overdue and I really enjoyed it all. Now I’m feeling a bit more re-energized and ready to tackle those things that are ahead of me. [Read more…]
