STYLERS
Good stylers that work well for your natural hair texture are important because they help with adding moisture, retaining moisture and texture for us naturals to achieve certain styles. Personally, I mainly search for a styler that helps with my curls. I prefer ones that are moisture rich, curl enhancers that add some body and shine to my hair and are not too heavy, greasy or sticky. This list includes the ones that are in my current rotation:
- Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancer
-
- Aveda Be Curly Style Prep -
- CURLS Curl Souffle Medium Curl Cream
- I like this a lot. It smells really good, defrizzes, defines and has a soft, natural hold for curls while locking in moisture. Works very well for my heavy thick hair texture.
- CURLS Creme Brule
-
SERUMS/ANTI-HUMECTANTS/GLOSSERS
- Sabino Lok and Blok -
- Aveda Brilliant Anti-Humectant Pomade -
- ApHogee Gloss Therapy Polish
-
GELS
- ECO Styler gel -
- CURLS Passion Fruit Curl Control
-
OILS
The scalp produces a natural oil called sebum. Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are the closest thing to natural sebum. EFAs can help dry/porous hair become more soft and pliable. The ones that are a part of my hair care regime are:
- Macadamia Natural Hair Oil Healing Oil Treatment -
- Jojoba -
- Olive Oil -
- Coconut Oil -
